20 Students of GK Sibol Graduated

On April 17, 2017 at the Payatas Operations Group Multipurpose Hall, the 2017 batch of  the AAA GK Molave Sibol School held their graduating ceremonies. Nine students are moving to kinder 2 and 11 students are moving to grade 1. The event was graced by one of the founders of GK Sibol and Ateneo alumna batch ‘98 Ms. Maida Ventura,  and Ateneo Alumni Association’s Irene Venegas.

On behalf of batch 2017, top 1 student Princess Ayesha Rondina gave a sweet speech of thanks to their parents, teachers and donors. “Being a student is not so easy,” she said. “So many challenges, hard works, doubts and fears. But for me, it is the best experience to achieve our dreams in life. And yes, ito ay dahil sa inyong patuloy na pag gabay sa amin.”

For her opening remarks, Maida Ventura recalled the beginnings of GK Sibol. When she graduated in 1998, she and some of her batch mates volunteered in building houses for the Gawad Kalinga community.  In 2009, she started visiting GK Molave on a weekly basis. AAA’s Nonong Velasco then asked her if she’s interested in building a school. “Ano naman ang alam ko sa paggawa ng school, hindi naman ako teacher?” she asked herself. But with the help of volunteers, the parents of the children and the teachers, GK Sibols was launched.

AAA’s  Irene Venegas congratulated the graduating batch on behalf of the AAA and donors. She reminded them to be always grateful to their parents and teachers for their love and support. “Naniniwala ako na ang bawat isa sa inyo ay may kakayanang idikta ang kanilang kinabukasan,” she said. “Ngunit sa inyong murang edad, huwag nating kalimutan na kailangan ninyo ng gabay.”
