For its 108th year, the Ateneo Alumni Association prepared a different celebration. Held at the Faber Hall last October 7, the AAA has invited the past presidents, batch representatives and AAA partners for an evening of inspiring talks, music and good food.
The program started with a mass presided by Fr. Norberto “Kit” Bautista, SJ, University Chaplain and Director of the Ateneo Office of Alumni Relations held at the high school chapel. Attendees then were escorted to Faber Hall via e-jeeps.
In addition to the live band music, AAA invited 2005 BS Biology alumna and 2016 Ten Outstanding Women in Nation Service awardee, Sabrina Ongkiko to give an inspirational speech about public education in the Philippines. Despite the hardships of teaching and constantly asking why she was called to teach, she reminded everyone that they were called to love, and this is what it means to be men and women for and with others.
Speakers from the HS ’92 and AAA’s new partner the Philippine Jesuit Association Aid also gave presentations about their mission to support the Tulong Dunong Foundation and the Jesuit missionary works and aging priests respectively.
The highlight of the evening is the recognition of AAA’s past presidents. In the Pinning of the Past Presidents, 7 AAA past presidents were invited to the stage and were given a gold and blue pin to recognize their efforts in building a strong alumni association.
